How we earn revenue — transparently and ethically.

Our commitment to transparency

RetireFinder is a free resource. We do not charge for access to our guides, tools, country comparisons or city profiles. To sustain the site and keep producing in-depth retirement-abroad content, we take part in affiliate programmes and may earn a commission when you click certain links and go on to buy or sign up for a service.

This never increases the price you pay. In some cases an affiliate partnership gives you access to a discounted rate.

How affiliate links work

When you click a link marked as an affiliate link, a cookie is placed in your browser. If you then buy or sign up for the service, the company pays us a commission. This is how many of the internet's best free resources fund their work.

Our standards

Three rules govern every affiliate partnership we enter:

  1. Recommendation first, commission second. We only partner with services we would recommend regardless of payment. Where a higher-paying programme was the worse product for our readers, we have declined it.
  2. Visible labelling. Pages containing affiliate links carry a notice, and individual links use the rel="sponsored" attribute so search engines and assistive technology can identify them. In German-language pages we label them as Werbung or Anzeige, as German advertising rules require.
  3. Editorial independence. No partner reviews, edits or approves anything before publication. Commercial relationships never determine what we recommend or how we rank a destination.

Which partnerships are live right now

None. As of August 2026 RetireFinder carries no affiliate links and earns no affiliate commission. We are publishing this page ahead of that, so the rules are on the record before any money is involved rather than after.

When that changes, the categories we expect to work with are international health insurance, cross-border money transfer, and visa and relocation services — the things retirees moving abroad actually need. This section will name each partner individually once a partnership is live.

What this pays for

Any future affiliate income funds:

  • Research and verification — cost-of-living data, visa requirements, care costs
  • Servers and infrastructure
  • Building and maintaining the interactive tools

The aim is a genuinely trustworthy retirement-abroad resource that stays free to use. Affiliate revenue is what makes that possible.
