How we earn revenue — transparently and ethically.

Our Commitment to Transparency

RetireFinder is a free resource. We do not charge for access to our guides, tools, country comparisons, or city profiles. To sustain the site and continue producing in-depth retirement abroad content, we participate in affiliate programs and may earn commissions when you click certain links and make a purchase or sign up for a service.

This does not increase the price you pay. In some cases, our affiliate partnerships may even give you access to discounted rates.

How Affiliate Links Work

When you click a link marked as an affiliate link (or in a section with an affiliate disclosure), a cookie is placed in your browser. If you make a purchase or sign up for the service, the company pays us a small commission. This is how many of the internet's best free resources — Wirecutter, NerdWallet, The Points Guy — fund their work.

Our Standards

We follow three strict rules for all affiliate partnerships:

  1. Recommendation-first, commission-second. We only partner with services we would recommend regardless of compensation. We have turned down affiliate programs with higher commissions when the product was not the best fit for our readers.
  2. Transparent labeling. Pages containing affiliate links include a notice at the top of the page. Individual affiliate links use rel="sponsored" attributes so search engines and assistive technologies can identify them.
  3. Editorial independence. No partner reviews, edits, or approves our content before publication. Our editorial team maintains full control over all recommendations and comparisons.

Current Affiliate Partners

We participate in the following affiliate programs:

  • International health insurance providers — including Cigna Global, GeoBlue, and SafetyWing. We recommend these for retirees moving abroad who need comprehensive international coverage.
  • Currency transfer and financial services — including Wise. We recommend these for retirees transferring pensions, Social Security payments, or savings across borders.
  • Expat tax preparation services — for US citizens managing cross-border tax obligations.

This list is updated as our partnerships change. Last updated: May 2026.

How This Supports RetireFinder

Affiliate commissions fund our:

  • Content research and verification (cost of living data, visa requirement updates)
  • Server and infrastructure costs
  • Interactive tool development and maintenance
  • Future features like personalized retirement planning reports

Our goal is to build the most comprehensive, trustworthy retirement abroad resource available — and to keep it free. Affiliate revenue makes that possible.
